Fremont’s finest arrested on DUI

A Fremont police officer was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving over the weekend in Livermore, authorities said Monday Link.

I have the opinion that unlike fire fighters, police are worth every penny we pay them.  But there are certain laws that when broken by an officer should preclude them from being in the position to enforce the laws —  ie, they should be fired for DUI.  No pay, no pension.  Good night and good luck. Unfortunately that expectation is too much to ask for. From the Chronicle:

Fremont police officials declined to comment Monday, saying it was a personnel matter.

Next time you’re pulled over on suspicion of DUI by officer William Brendon Johnson, decline to discuss  the personal matter with him, and just drive away.

UPDATE:  A second Fremont officer was arrested for DUI earlier in the month (Link). His name is Paul Singleton , and just like the DUI of officer Johnson, the fact that your highly paid sworn staff is driving around blasted is a “personal matter” according the police chief.

Remember for every one caught there’s dozens, maybe hundreds who are not .
